Acting, finaly. The heart and soul of every movie comes from the drama created by the people in the scenes. No matter how good your scripting, directing and camera work is, with out affective acting all your hard work doesn't come across on screen.
Acting is simple. Although of course it involves alot of practice, eventually, getting the right movement expression and emotion into the scene will come naturally. However, nothing is ever perfect wit out really working hard to make it seem subtle yet obvious ( confusing I know)
So, In the next few posts, you'll learn how to master every element of acting and learn the different forms of it to. Stay tuned...

Scripting.
Now obviously scripting is an important part of movie making as the original vision of the movie comes from it. If you want to script a movie you have to decide what the story line is about, the order in which the scenes are played out and of course the characteristics of the different people in the film.
In this sense, you are a lot like a director.
In a lot of amateur movies, however, scripting is either just an out line or sometimes not done at all and instead the story is improvised. If you want a more relaxed approach to movie making, look out for my guide to improvisation.
So, scripting is all about creating the first image of the movie. It is a beginning guide for the actors and allows them to know what their characters are really like. It also lets the director begin to plan out it's vision.
The first thing you need to do in a script is describe the moment the scene is written in. You have to give some background info before writing out what the action and drama in the scene is, otherwise the actors will have very little idea what is going in the scene and may end up displaying the wrong emotions. This is normally something like this:

This is normally something like this:
(ronald stands centre scene, arms raised preparing for the battle. jacky has just been involved with her moment of madness and is ready to enter behind camera. the scene is in an abandoned street that is slightly darker than it should be for the time of day and there is no plant life)
Then you need to write out the speech of the scene, including tone of voice, action and consequence throughout. This is normally something like this:
Ronald:(under his breath) they're coming for me.(turns around)
(jacky enters into the shot)
Ronald:(louder) and I suppose you still think this is all fun and games
Jacky: (soothingly yet slightly apprehensive) Ronald, don't worry. I've seen the destruction for my self. I know what this war is doing.
(Ronald steps forward)
Ronald: It's too late now, after all your (air quotes) inspiration (air quotes) we're now running into our end and theirs nothing we can do about it.
Remember that the making of a script isn't just about making sure the story makes sense on screen and in the minds of the actors but about developing the characters as well. As a writer you have to ensure the characters are all relatable and memorable for the right reasons compared to their part in the story. For example, making the main character a small and unimportant character that develops throughout the movie is a perfect character whilst an evil villain would be better developed as a shadowy figure and someone unlikable.
In the end the script is all about creating the scene on paper and getting a good idea of the whole story out before the actors create something more physical. Although the script can be quite often changed, it is one of the most important parts of a successful movie and is the first impression of the over all film.
Please, if you have any questions or want more examples of scripts, let me know and i'll do my best to help.

Directing
Directing is all about understanding the scene. In a simple movie all you really need to do is tell the actors what the scene is about and stop them when they make a mistake.
However when making a more advanced and exciting movie there is a lot more to consider. Firstly you're in charge. You have to call the shots; let everyone know what you want and why you want it. You have to be able to take peoples opinions and add your own flourish. In more advanced movies the movie is yours.
But of course the with power comes responsibility. You have to ensure the cameras, the actors, the clothing and the action is all perfect along with the editing special affects the final film. You have to ensure you understand the whole movie and how the scene fits in. You have to have an image, and shape the film and characters to suit that.
But, although you have to ensure the filming goes exactly to plan, being bossy is a terrible mistake. You have to take everyones ideas in and put them together with your own. You have to be patient with the actors and the camera and allow people to work with the scene before expecting to much.
So all in all, being a directer is all about being in charge. You have to make the film with your own image in mind and take the opinion of others to make it better.

simple shots
The shots
The first thing you need to understand about movie making is the shots. You need to have a good view of the action, drama, or the special affects whilst choosing the best shot to emphasise the plot in the story. Whilst filming, you have to have a good idea of what you want the scene to portray.
If you want an action sequence you need to follow one particular person and obviously you need to move with them. Also you need all the consequences of the action caught on camera. Say if the character your following kills another, you need to see (even if it's just a small part) the person dying or if they crash into something you need to see the consequent explosion or destruction. This means you want quite a wide shot to ensure you get all that action on camera.
If you want a dramatic or maybe romantic scene, you may want a variety of shots. maybe to catch the facial expressions (a close up) or to view the whole atmosphere of the scene (wide shot) Alternatively you could portray the scene from someone else's point of view. Perhaps the person involved with the situation could be used or even some one spying in on the moment. If you did do someone spying, filming with an obstruction in the way will make the situation more obvious and if you are ever filming as someone else, don't make the camera work to professional or it will not be realistic.
Obviously there are different types of shots ,like landscapes, long shots and animal shots, and of coarse they are just as important as the others, however they can be films in many different ways and some times it's better to use your own imagination for those. however if you really want help with these shots then comment on this post and I will give you my own methods.
see you soon.
