Directing

Directing is all about understanding the scene. In a simple movie all you really need to do is tell the actors what the scene is about and stop them when they make a mistake.

However when making a more advanced and exciting movie there is a lot more to consider. Firstly you're in charge. You have to call the shots; let everyone know what you want and why you want it. You have to be able to take peoples opinions and add your own flourish. In more advanced movies the movie is yours.

But of course the with power comes responsibility. You have to ensure the cameras, the actors, the clothing and the action is all perfect along with the editing special affects the final film. You have to ensure you understand the whole movie and how the scene fits in. You have to have an image, and shape the film and characters to suit that.

But, although you have to ensure the filming goes exactly to plan, being bossy is a terrible mistake. You have to take everyones ideas in and put them together with your own. You have to be patient with the actors and the camera and allow people to work with the scene before expecting to much.

So all in all, being a directer is all about being in charge. You have to make the film with your own image in mind and  take the opinion of others to make it better.
