Cronicle

Cronicle is a film about three teenagers obtaining super powers after climbing down a hole and interacting an unusual and supernatural meteor. The background of the movie is that, an originally goodie goodie boy who has family difficulties and decides to film his entire life. After he and his friends, two bad boys of school, obtain the super powers they spend their time developing them further and discovering the aweful consequences of misusing them. And of course the roles of good and bad are swapped as the powers develop with the main character devoting himself to evil.

This film, 12A rating, is not very suited for that age group. The film makes little scence from beggining to end with only samll parts of the overall story being shown from the point of view of the camera the story is displayed on. Although I found the idea of filming in this way imaginitive and original, I don't think it captured the audiences attention as well as it could do.

Also I found the film ending very anti climatic and, with two of the original three heroes dying, quite depressing. Also the whole idea of unexplainably gaining super powers has been done before and with very little else to add to it I found it very repetitive.


However I do think the acting of the main characters and the imaginitive of use of camera work was good and did find the C G I was very impressive. Also I appreciate the fact that the reason I found this movie quite bad may be the fact that the target audience could possible be for older people.

In the end I didn't find this movie a very good one, although the reviews were amazing. I wish I hadn't speant the monney. I can understand why people may enjoy it but after seeing it with 3 of my friends who all agreed with my opinion, I believe raising the rating wouldn't have been a mistake.
